The new Webley and Scott Pro Comp 12-bore shotgun comes with a level of adjustability that means you can use it for clays or hunting. Webley and Scott aim to produce affordable guns that are packed with features and can compete with guns at a much higher price point, and the Pro Comp shotgun does just that.
The Stock
The Pro Comp comes in two variants: one with a hybrid metal and wooden stock, and the other completely wood. Both have an anatomically designed glove grip stock which has been designed to give you the confidence of repeatability in your gun mount and hand position (this also has a positive effect on the management of recoil). Both models are also fitted with a comb that is adjustable in height and cast to help ensure the gun fits you perfectly. The wood used in both is Turkish Walnut with an oil finish, the like of which is usually found on guns costing thousands more.
The Metal Stocked Model
This model has all of the features listed above and some more to help take adjustability to the next level.
In order to help fine tune the centre of balance, a counterweight can be fixed in position anywhere along a groove in the frame of the stock, or removed entirely.
The length-of-pull is also adjustable from 14¾ inches all the way out to a 16 inches, and the recoil pad is pitch adjustable to provide maximum contact with your shoulder. All of this helps to ensure that the recoil path is as smooth as possible.
The Trigger
Webley and Scott’s jewel in the Pro Comp crown is a trigger with an adjustable position – simple in design but a feature that a lot of shotguns currently on the market lack. Adjusting the trigger’s position means that you can find the most comfortable position for your hand and bring the trigger to the perfect position for your finger, ensuring that you don’t have to ‘reach’ for it. The trigger can be easily adjusted with an Allen Key.
The Finish
The metal surfaces of the Pro Comp have been finished with Cerakote to give it strength and longevity. The barrels have been finished with graphite black Cerakote and the metal stock, accessories, and butt pad have been finished in periwinkle blue Cerakote.
An All Round Gun?
Webley and Scott are confident that the high level of user adjustability means that the Pro Comp can be your sporting clay shooting gun on Saturday, your sporting trap gun on Sunday, and then used in the field during the week.
