Purdey Release Range of Limited Sunglasses

Purdey, a world renowned name for producing some of the finest craftsman made shotguns and rifles since 1814, have released a range of sunglasses to compliment the existing range of shooting and country clothing and accessories.

Within 10 years of establishing his business in 1814, James Purdey was being spoken of as the finest gunmaker in London. On 12 February 1868 the Prince of Wales, who became King Edward VII, granted James Purdey his Royal Warrant of Appointment. A decade later, on 28 March 1878, having purchased many Purdey guns and rifles, Queen Victoria assigned a Royal Warrant to Purdey, as has every British monarch since.  Purdey can also claim to have built guns for all 9 kings attending King Edwards VII’s funeral in 1910!

The new range of sunglasses come in four distinctive styles, with each style limited to 100 pieces, all of which have been engraved with a unique serial number. The range is constructed out of cutting edge modern materials (like the titanium frames found on The Sporter) with details that link them back to Purdey’s gunmaking heritage (such as a walnut brow bar taken from stock blanks on The Traveller).

All of the models come with polarised Zeiss lenses that have been coated with AR (an anti-reflective coating to improve vision and reduce strain) and Ripel (a treatment that keeps fog, dirt, grime and water off the lens to ensure vision remains clear and the lens stays cleaner for longer) on the front and back. The Sporter has been specifically designed for shooting and comes with three sets of interchangeable lenses thereby allowing the shooter to pick the correct setup for the weather conditions.

Giles Greenwood, Commercial Director at James Purdey & Sons said “We have applied the same passion and skill in developing this sunglasses collection as we do with our shotguns, high-quality clothing and accessories. There is a choice of sunglasses for every occasion, not just for the sporting or shooting enthusiast. It really is a Purdey accessory worth investing in.”
