The Imperial is Webley and Scott’s new side-by-side shotgun that is a nod back to the gunmaker’s traditional roots.
Webley and Scott is one of the oldest names in gunmaking – it was founded in the late 18th century by William Davies who originally made bullet moulds. In 1834 the company was taken over by his son-in-law, Phillip Webley, and his brother who began the production of sporting guns. Webley and Scott made shotguns in every bore and rifles in calibres ranging from the very small ‘Rook’ calibres up to the .600 Nitro Express. The guns coming out of the factory doors weren’t just engraved with the Webley and Scott name, many were shipped to other gun companies who then resold them under their own names – for example both Purdey and Holland and Holland sold guns below the ‘Best’ quality lines which had been made by Webley and Scott.
The Imperial shotgun gives a nod to the vast history of Webley and Scott whilst encompassing leading manufacturing techniques. The result is a gun that can continue to be used for game shooting for many seasons to come, just like some of guns that left the factory a century ago.
The Imperial comes in .410, 28, 20, 16, and 12 bore options, with weights varying from 6lbs 15oz for the 12 bore to 5lbs 15oz for the .410. All bores have 28 inch barrels, except for the 12 bore which comes with the option of 30 inch barrels. All barrels are fitted with multi-chokes so you can select the appropriate choke setup for your style of shooing (the gun comes with 5 chokes).
The 3.5 grade Turkish walnut stock is 14 3/4 inches long and has a Prince of Wales grip. The steel action of the gun has been colour case hardened using the traditional method and has high-grade scroll engraving around the borders.
The chamber is 3 inches long and the gun has been proofed for steel shot so you are ready to tackle game birds as the industry transitions away from lead.
