Hornady was founded in America in 1949 by Joyce Hornady as he knew that there were thousands of shooters who wanted what he wanted: accurate, deadly, dependable bullets they could afford to reload. After the war there were thousands of rounds of surplus ammunition available to shooters, however none of it was loaded with bullets suitable for hunting. The first Hornady bullet was a .30-caliber 150-grain spire point. Hornady took the surplus cartridge cases and manufactured his own rounds using a surplus Waterbury Farrell assembly press which he installed in a former auto body shop. From these humble origins Hornady has doubled in size again and again and is now the largest independently owned maker of bullets, ammunition and tools in the world.
The Hornady CX (which stands for Copper alloy eXpanding) bullet’s design has been optimised to offer extended range performance, greater accuracy, high weight retention, and deep penetration. It’s one-piece copper alloy construction delivers devastating terminal performance, deep penetration and 95% weight retention.
Heat Shield® Tip
The Heat Shield® tip is made of a heat-resistant polymer that resists aerodynamic heating and provides a consistently high ballistic coefficient for the bullet’s entire flight path. The Heat Shield® tip also gives the bullet a perfect meplat (tip on the nose of the bullet) for bullet-to-bullet and lot-to-lot consistency.
Optimum Groove Geometry
The grooves on the CX bullet maximize aerodynamic performance while effectively reducing bearing surface and fouling.
