Strasser RS700 – New Straight-Pull Rifle

The Strasser RS700 rifle is a new line of straight-pull rifles based on the Remington 700 short action footprint.

Established in 2005, Strasser is an Austrian designer, manufacturer, and distributor of ultra-premium sporting rifles and components. Strasser are proud of their industry experience and frequently spend time in the field using their own products; this is what drives them to the make the best possible products, products that they themselves want to use. Strasser also offer an industry-first 12-year repair guarantee across all of its products.

The Strasser RS700 (Repeating System) is a combination of the proven Strasser straight-pull technology and the Remington 700 system. Millions of Remington 700s have been built since it was introduced in 1962, however this is the world’s first straight-pull to be built off of this action footprint.

“Never before has a rifle manufacturer managed to upgrade an existing, conventional cylinder bolt-action rifle to a straight pull mechanism” stated Martin Skrivanek, Creative Director and Co-Designer of the RS700 at Strasser. “The RS700 is truly revolutionary, and because of the versatility of the platform it will have a broad consumer appeal” continued Skrivanek.

By using “open source” rifle parts you can modify this rifle to meet your needs without being dependent on one single weapon manufacturer. The RS700 features compatibility with all existing Remington 700 designs, such as: 2-piece scope mounts, barrels with either shoulder or barrel nut, triggers, both left and right-hand safety, recoil lug, AICS compatible bottom metals, both left and right-handed short action stocks.

Initial RS700 rifles will be chambered in the following: 6.5CM, .308 Win., 6.5×47 Lapua, and 6.5PRC.

There will be three stock designs to select from:

  • RS700 Legend, a premium single piece wooden stock,
  • RS700 AVA-Tahr, a synthetic single piece stock,
  • RS700 XRS, an aluminium chassis stock.

Each of the RS700 offerings will come equipped with a Timney Elite Hunter trigger, two position safety, and a threaded precision barrel.

The RS700 has a firing pin indicator and can be loaded or unloaded when the safety is in the safe position. The rifle is ambidextrous and can be outfitted in left-handed or right-handed configurations by simply using the bolt and bolt-head for the desired shooting preference. To start with the RS700 will only be available as a complete rifle but in the future barrelled actions will be sold separately.
