Mossberg 940 Pro Field Semi-Auto Shotgun

The new Mossberg 940 Pro Field semi-automatic shotgun is the latest addition to the 940 series of shotguns and it has been designed specifically with hunters in mind.

O.F. Mossberg & Sons (commonly referred to as just Mossberg) was founded by Oscar Frederick Mossberg and his two sons Iver and Harold in 1919 after the company Oscar was working for (Marlin-Rockwell) went out of business. The Mossbergs’ first firearm was a simple four-shot .22 calibre pistol called the Brownie. This pistol was marketed largely to hunters and trappers for the humane killing of wounded or trapped animals. Approximately 37,000 Brownie pistols were produced from 1920 to 1932. It is thanks to the success of the Brownie that the Mossberg company was able to expand to larger premises and start producing new lines of firearms.

The new Mossberg 940 Pro Field shotgun features a durable gas system that will continue to work reliably without cleaning after shooting up to 1,500 cartridges. The gas piston, magazine tube and hammer/sear are corrosion-resistant due to their nickel boron coating. To ensure a smooth operation the Mossberg 940 Pro Field has an enlarged and beveled loading port, elongated elevator, and anodised follower. The oversized and contoured charging handle and bolt release allow you to quickly manipulate them when seconds count.

The adjustable stock allows for 1.25″ of LOP (Length of Pull) flexibility and is adjustable for cast/drop at the comb using incremental stock shims. The grip and streamlined forend feature Mossberg’s signature texturing for a secure grip, and the front fibre optic sight helps keep you on target.
