The MDT Comp Brake has been designed from the ground up to be the best muzzle brake for competitive rifle shooters.
When designing the Comp Brake, MDT began with two major design parameters: to redirect or ‘break up’ concussion towards the shooter (a standard pain-point in muzzle brakes) and to reduce the felt recoil as much as possible. It took over 16 months of development, testing and optimising for MDT to create what they believe is the most effective muzzle brake currently on the market.
The four seated baffles on each side of the Comp Brake are designed with staggered angles and serrations that cause turbulence and disperse energy. This greatly reduces concussion which means you will experience fewer headaches and also felt recoil by up to 67%.
The MDT Comp Brake can be made to direct gas upwards at 20º angles through the six top vents, this not only contracts recoil but also enables you to see right through the blast and keep your eye on the target. These top ports can be easily adjusted in the field to be open by varying amounts or fully closed. Adjusting these top ports will allow you to tune your muzzle rise based on your preference or load.
This muzzle brake also features a recessed target crown to reduce bullet turbulence and a self timing lock nut that reduces run-out.
The MDT Comp Brake is compatible with the following calibers and thread types (please note that it will currently not fit on barrels that are 0.880″ or smaller at the muzzle):
