Aya Imperial
Built upon AYA’s renowned Nº 1 sidelock action the Imperial shotgun has undergone a meticulous refinement process, focusing on every operational detail. This results in a shotgun with notably crisper trigger pulls, smoother closings, and a livelier handling experience.
One of its distinguishing features is the inclusion of self-opening action as standard, adding a touch of sophistication to its operation. The Imperial is further adorned with exquisite hand engraving, a testament to the artisanal skill applied to its construction. Bone charcoal case hardening adds an extra layer of durability, and the use of exhibition-quality walnut speaks to the gun’s aesthetic elegance.
Exclusively distributed in the UK by Anglo Spanish Imports (A.S.I), the Imperial is tailored to British tastes. Despite its exceptional craftsmanship and refinement, it maintains competitive pricing in comparison to its London-made counterparts.
This hammerless sidelock shotgun boasts a forged steel action with a double locking mechanism and gas vents, ensuring not only resilience but also reliable performance. Safety features are paramount, with hardened steel intercepting safety sears. There are also gold-washed internal lock parts, and gold-lined cocking indicators.
The double trigger configuration includes a hinged front trigger, and users have the option for either a selective or non-selective single trigger, catering to individual preferences. The shotgun’s chopper lump chrome nickel steel barrels and concave rib further demonstrate its attention to detail and finesse.
The straight-hand stock is crafted from highly figured walnut and finished with oil, providing both durability and an aesthetic appeal. For the Imperial, the use of exhibition-quality walnut elevates its visual allure. Its bold foliate engraving, known as “SENIOR,” adheres to the best English traditions, and an initial oval allows for personalisation.
Additional features include an automatic safety mechanism, locking screws fitted throughout internally, a hand-detachable pin with locking stud, diamond checkering, and a locked hinge pin. The Imperial is available with a choice of colour-hardened or old silver finish, allowing for customisation according to individual tastes.
Furthermore, it comes in various bore sizes, including 12, 16, 20, 28, and .410, providing versatility for different shooting preferences. While the standard barrel length is 28 inches, other lengths can be ordered to accommodate specific requirements. In a 12 bore configuration, the Imperial weighs approximately 6 3/4 lbs.
In summary, the Imperial stands as a testament to AYA’s dedication to perfecting the art of gunmaking, combining aesthetics, craftsmanship, and functionality into a harmonious whole.
