Is Conservation Too Cruel? This is the topic TGS Outdoors tackles in their latest documentary produced for the National Gamekeepers Organisation.
TGS (The Gun Shop) is a gun shop located in Botley, near Southampton, that reopened in Spring 2015. TGS stocks everything for the avid fieldsports enthusiast from shotguns to optics to clothing. As well as a physical shop TGS also run a successful YouTube channel. Since creating the channel in 2015 they have uploaded over 670 videos that have been collectively viewed over 15,131,866 times. The channel boasts over 46,900 subscribers!
Is Conservation Too Cruel?
In this documentary TGS and the NGO look at a small band of practical conservationists who are still fighting for the wildlife that we have left. Jonny, TGS’ presenter, travels to different parts of the UK and talks to 5 individuals who are directly involved in conservation (a woodsman, 3 gamekeepers and a deer manager) as he investigates the need for balance in our countryside, and asks “is conservation too cruel”?
This documentary doesn’t just focus on predatory species. As mentioned, a deer manager was also interviewed as they look at the impact that deer can have on the environment and how managing these species is also important.
It is well worth watching this documentary and even sharing, not just amongst those in the shooting community who may already know how important conservation is, but with others who are a little further removed from the countryside and its ecology.
