The Garmin inReach Mini 2 satellite communicator has been designed for adventurers who often travel outside of of mobile phone signal ranges, whether it’s stalking in Scotland, hunting in Cornwall or even skiing in France.
This compact device has global satellite coverage which means you can still contact loved ones even when your mobile phone doesn’t have signal with two-way messaging. Using the Garmin Explore app you can update your social media pages, share your location with others using the MapShare page or with coordinates embedded in your messages. In case of emergency you can trigger an interactive SOS message to the Garmin IERCC (a 24/7 staffed emergency response coordination centre). Should you get lost the TracBack routing feature will navigate you back to your starting point the same way you came. The device also features a digital compass and a weather forecast service (that can give you forecasts for your current location or other waypoints or destinations).
Rather than relying on mobile phone coverage the Garmin inReach Mini 2 transfers your messages, SOS alerts and location tracking via the global Iridium® satellite network. An active subscription is required to access the Iridium network and you can opt for an annual package or a flexible month-to-month plan.
The internal, rechargeable lithium battery gives you up to 14 days use at the default 10-minute tracking mode and up to 30 days in power saving mode.
