Bioammo Blue are Bioammo’s latest revolutionary shotgun cartridges that are the first of their kind – they contain an alloy-based shot and are 100% plastic free.
Rather than using plastic in its cartridges Bioammo have instead developed biopolymers of plant origins for use in the wads and cases. This means that the company does not produce any toxic synthetic molecules or micro-plastics that would contaminate the environment (either on land or water) and adversely affect the flora and fauna, or marine and aquatic life.
Not only have Bioammo invested extensively in a state of the art factory in Spain, but also in the Research and Development of its products; it holds exclusive world-wide AAA patents for the use of its specially designed bioplastic materials that offer strength, flexibility and biodegradability. All of the cases and wads used in Bioammo’s cartridges are both biodegradable and bio-compostable.
The Bioammo Blue range of cartridges use an alloy-based shot that is inline with the UK’s transition away from the use of lead shot for game shooting. The shot is an alloy mix of bismuth, aluminium, tin, and zinc. This alloy is softer than steel but slightly harder than lead: using the Vickers hardness test lead has an HV (the unit of hardness) of 45, steel has an HV of 120, whilst Bioammo’s alloy sits between them with an HV of 60. This is good news for those who are concerned about steel shot damaging the barrels of their guns.
