In an attempt to help feed frontline NHS workers during the COVID-19 outbreak Game Aid has been set up by The British Game Alliance, Tweed Media and the Fieldsports Journal.
The meal bags consist of a sumptuous Wild & Game pheasant and pork pie, some fruit, a packet of crisps, a bottle of water, a fruit bar and a chocolate treat. The cost of the Game Aid meal bag, including delivery, is £2.00 (the cost may vary slightly depending on the items available, however the bag will always contain a game pie). The contents and the cost of delivery has been heavily subsidised by Tamworth Brothers, one of the country’s largest food producers, and Wild & Game, producers of British game based products.
The Chairman of the NHS National Food Review Committee, Phillip Shelley, has fully endorsed this scheme. On behalf of the NHS he thanked the rural community and everyone involved in advance for creating and supporting Game Aid. He confirmed these meals will be distributed to his NHS colleagues nationwide and said “they will raise moral”.
The aim of Game Aid is to raise £25,000 to help feed the frontline NHS workers. This initiative is only being run during the COVID-19 pandemic. When the country resumes close to normal life once again any residual funds donated will be donated to the Country Food Trust to help feed those in need.
