Perazzi MX8

The Perazzi MX8 range of over-and-under shotguns represents a pinnacle in the realm of competition shotguns and are often referred to as ‘The Ferrari of shotguns.’ The standard model features a black frame and parts, incorporating a robust double locking action, a detachable trigger mechanism with V or coil springs, and a fixed trigger blade.

These shotguns offer a high degree of customisation, available in seven levels of engraving and wood quality, allowing customers to specify barrel length, choking, rib styles, and woodwork. The MX8 is a bespoke gun, and can be tailored to individual preferences.

Additional features, available at an extra cost, include multi-chokes, adjustable triggers, auto-safe functions, barrel selectors, and wood upgrades. However, it’s important to note that the safety catch cannot serve as a barrel selector on MX8 and HT variant detachable trigger models. A separate barrel selector can be fitted behind the trigger but requires the safety to be in the ‘safe’ position for changes.

The MX8 20 gauge variant maintains similar features as the MX8 but on a smaller frame. There are also variations such as the MX2000 series, which includes models like the MX2000/8, MX2000/3, MX2005, and MX2008, each offering adjustable stocks and varying rib heights for altering the point of impact.

Barrels across models are interchangeable but may require fitting by a gunsmith, especially if the rib type differs significantly. Chambers come in 2 ½” (65mm), 2 ¾” (70mm), and 3” (76mm) Magnum, all ‘Superproofed’ for High Performance Steel Shot.

The MX8 range allows for woodwork upgrades up to the SCO Sideplate, offering customisable stock and forend styles. However, there are limitations on interchangeability between detachable and non-detachable models in terms of stocks and headings.

Choking options range from 0 (CYL) to 11 (X/Full), with the possibility of multi-choke on one or both barrels. Custom rib selections are available for different models, along with detachable trigger group options offering various spring types, adjustability, selectivity, auto-safe, and firing sequence configurations.

Perazzi also offers aftermarket spare set back triggers with options for 5mm or 10mm set back.
