Purdey’s AW22 Collection and New Technical-Wear

As the heat of summer fades James Purdey and Son’s favourite season has begun and with it Purdey’s AW22 collection and its new range of technical-wear has been launched.

To set the scene for its AW22 collection Purdey want for you to imagine a relaxed day on a beautiful country estate, with guests arriving from town. There’s an air of shoots gone by, but we’re very much in the present moment. Spirits are high, conversation is flowing and the company is, of course, excellent.

Purdey’s AW22 collection celebrates the classics. Think sweeping capes, jackets and breeks in their signature tweed – which has been created exclusively for Purdey and woven in Scotland using certified sustainable, ethically sourced wool.

Several of the tweeds in this collection utilise the natural palette of the Shetland herd, undyed for minimal intervention from sheep to finished piece. While the rest of the collection tonally reflects the surrounding landscape, from lush green forests to the deep blue stillness of the Highland lakes.

In the field, it’s all about layering. Field Coats and Gilets are made from extra-fine merino wool and cashmere for lightweight warmth. And, if you believe mismatching tweed is sacrilege, team them with the trousers cut from the same cloth; plus Purdey’s quintessential nubuck leather boots.

As winter beckons, Purdey will be leaning into Cable Knit Sweaters in new slate and khaki colourways that match moody skies. Made near Hawick, the home of Scottish knitwear, traditional techniques are honoured and stitching is finished by hand – Purdey’s signature cable and trellis motif nods to the heritage engravings of its gunmaking.

All New Technical-Wear

If you are as obsessed with technical kit as those at Purdey are then you need not look any further.

Taking functional design to the next level, these pieces are pared back and supremely durable. Throughout, Purdey’s new technical fabrics – 100% waterproof, windproof and breathable innovation with 35% recyclable, bio-based content – ensure the highest performance levels.

Demonstrating Purdey’s commitment to versatility, several pieces in the collection are unisex – a departure from the tradition that reflects the pure practicality at play. Similarly, Purdey have defined the overarching mono-colour as Rifle Green (that one is self-explanatory).

Consider the Vatersay Cape, the Atholl Smock and the Carmarthen Overtrousers your absolute essentials. While a concise edit of Men’s and Women’s jackets and trousers complete the technical set. Purdey guarantee you can put it to the test for seasons to come.

And, there you have it, rich British heritage meets refined technical-wear, inspired by the great outdoors.
