EAW first redefined the scope mount market in the 1970’s with the invention of the pivot mount and they have done it again with the new Ultralight Titanium Mounts.
EAW was founded by Ernest Apel Senior in 1919 to manufacture dental equipment before soon expanded into other areas like finishing all kinds of metals, trading in bicycles and appliances, and installing a wide range of electrical services (such as in the 1920’s when EAW played a key role in converting the city of Frankfurt from gas to electrical lighting). In the 1940’s the company was forced to manufacture wartime products before being completely destroyed by Allied bombs. EAW was rebuilt in 1945 and this is when they started to develop and produce scope mounts.
In the 1970’s EAW redefined the scope mount market with the invention of the pivot mount, and now in 2022 they have done it again with the introduction of an ultra lightweight scope mount made from additive manufacturing (rather than the traditional process of milling and machining). Additive manufacturing is the process of directly depositing material, layer upon layer, to make a product (you may already be familiar with additive manufacturing as 3D printing is a subset of this manufacturing process).
These Ultralight Titanium Scope Mounts are the second product from EAW’s 3D print category, the first were scope mounts made from aluminium. Just as with these initial 3D printed aluminium mounts, the titanium models will be milled to perfection after printing to ensure the tolerances are well within the company’s existing high standards.
The DEVA institute have rigorously tested the titanium scope mount using EAW’s usual endurance tests. The mount proved to be extremely durable, after 2,000 shocks with 700G of force the mount did not show any signs of wearing off.
The interesting look of the mount is due to it being a revolutionary new bionic design which allows for a very light overall weight. You can specify to have the mount with either a multiscrew or a repeatable lever, and for a 30mm or 34mm diameter scope.
The EAW Ultralight Titanium Mounts are currently only available to preorder.
