Sauer S 404 Silence XTC – The New Fully Moderated Rifle

The new Sauer S 404 Silence XTC combines an ultra-modern and elegant carbon thumbhole-stock with the latest suppression technology that fully shrouds the barrel.

The Silence XTC combines all the advantages of state-of-the-art hunting rifle technology in one model. It is available in the following calibres: .308 Winchester, 8×57 IS, 9.32×62, .30-06 Springfield, and .300 Winchester Magnum. The standard magazine for the .300 Win. Mag. has a capacity of 2 rounds and an optional 4 round magazine is available. For all of the other calibres the standard magazine holds 3 rounds, however you can get additional magazines that hold either 5 or 8 rounds. You can opt for either a 16.5 inch (420mm) or 20.5 inch (520mm) long barrel.

Integral Titanium Moderator

The integral moderator, which is made from titanium, not only looks great on the S 404 Silence XTC, but it also ensures an optimum balance of the rifle with the lightweight carbon stock. This titanium moderator is less top-heavy when compared to an over or on-barrel moderator, however the top-heaviness that it does provide is sufficient for an optimised swing when shooting moving targets. This is further optimised when combined with the rifle’s carbon stock.

The weight of the continuously smooth moderator is distributed evenly over the entire length of the barrel. An additional advantage of this moderator is the clear field of vision with low scope magnifications or dot sights. You will not see an annoying black half-moon like you do with some over or on-barrel moderators.

The moderator not only dampens the muzzle blast (which is good for the shooter, dogs and anyone in the vicinity) but it also reduces muzzle flash, recoil, and the upward movement of the muzzle flip. Depending on the calibre of the rifle the moderator can reduce the sound of the shot by up to 28.5dB.

When it comes to precision and reliability, the S 404 Silence XTC, like every other Sauer 404, makes full use of the performance potential of modern hunting rifles. If you own an S 404 Synchro XTC or other Sauer 404 model of rifle you will be pleased as J.P. Sauer & Sohn offers all moderator components individually or as a conversion set, thereby enabling you to convert your Sauer 404 model into a Silence XTC.

Synchro Thumbhole Stock Meets Carbon Fibre

Due to the use of carbon fibre Sauer’s new Silence XTC is extremely strong, lightweight (the rifle weighs 7.5lbs, or 3.4kgs with the 16.5 inch long barrel), has reduced recoil, and is corrosion and weather resistant. Only genuine hand-laid carbon fibre (which conforms to the high-quality standards of the German automotive industry) is used in the production of the carbon thumbhole stock. This is where industrial technology meets artisanship.

The stock’s adjustable comb together with the Sauer Quattro trigger, turn the S 404 Silence XTC into an ultimate specialist regarding weight, ergonomics, shooting comfort and individual adjustment options.

Adjustable Trigger Pull Weight

The trigger on the Sauer S 404 Silence XTC is adjustable – it features four different trigger pull weights that are all individually adjustable. Crisp 550, 750, 1000 or 1250 g (1.2, 1.6, 2.2 or 2.7 lb) weights leave no doubts that your S 404 is already programmed for success prior to taking your shot.

Adjustable Trigger Blade

Every successful competition shooter knows that only the optimum position of the shooting finger on the trigger blade provides proper trigger pull and controlled shooting, without this you are at risk of missing the target. With an 8 mm (0.3 inch) adjustment range for length of pull and a left-to-right swivel range of 5 degrees, the S 404’s extra-wide trigger blade guarantees each shooter optimal contact to reliably hit the target.

Manual Cocking System

The ergonomic manual cocking system of the S 404 provides comfortable and silent cocking. By simply pressing the button with your thumb, the cocking slide silently slides back into the uncocked position. In order to open the bolt in an uncocked position, simply tap the cocking slide.
